So long, Serenity

It's official.

At the last minute the distributors of Serenity decided not to release it in South Africa at all! Both Nu Metro and Ster Kinekor confirmed it.

After the huge marketing campaigns they launched everywhere else, they not only don't bother to do any marketing here, but they also decide we're not allowed to see it on the big screen.

Excuse me as I go and fume in the corner...

Yes really a bit of a rip off, can only guess they think being so close to Christmas they are planning on pulling in people to see a film with the same genre might be Aeon Flux since the South African born Charlize Theron is in it?

It always seems that America get all the films first, and they wonder why DVD piracy exists don’t they realize that if they release it globally at the same time piracy will drop by at least 50% instead of trying to time the release to maximise the sales of tickets.

Since as you say it’s not going to be on the big screen, I thought I would say it’s available here http://www.shareheaven.net/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=9694 using http://www.emule-project.net if your boss does not mind you doing a bit of evening downloading or if your not in South Africa and don’t rely on http://www.hellkom.co.za PS: Please delete the last paragraph if you feel it may compromise your site in any way.

What a bummer. I'm going to have to wait for the DVD to come out anyway, 'cos it's not very practical going to the movies with a four-month-old baby. But at least I have the choice...
